    Post nasal drip

Hi I am suffering from relatively bad post nasal drip, Been to the doctors and have been put on doxycrycline before an antibiotic to clear bacterial infections and loratadine and beconase spray.
I took the anti biotics in march and only had blocked nose symtpoms e.t.c.
Now other week my nose had been really blocked, so I had been doing breathing exercises which helped me to breathe better through my nose and unblock it more, Also I found it very hard to blow my nose and would only get a bit of sticky green mucous.
It feels like the mucous gets stuck at the top of my throat and have to hack to get it out but not all and when I spit when I feel like this I have really clear bubbly sticky spit, or green snot coloured it has never been black or anything like that.
It's really starting to annoy me Im only 17 and went back to the doctors and put me on nasonex and doxycycline for a week.
I also asked the dentist if there was a lump behind my uvula which I can feel and if she could see any abnormalities and she also said no, I am trying to get braces as I have an underbite.

I never used to have this until I got the flu last year and just get really fed up especially in morning where I cough up a **** load of sticky white spit, its horrible and making me not want to do anything!

I've had this for years. I went to the doctors once or twice when it started, but nothing seemed to make a difference, so I just got used to it.

Are you a sporty type? I ask because I find if I do strenuous exercise first thing in a morning (e.g. running, cycling or anything that gets me sweating) seems to 'dilute' everything, then I don't have a problem with it for the rest of the day. Might be worth a try to help you feel better.

No I've been quite inactive tbh, I do quite a bit of walking, and I have notiched when Im outside walking it nowhere near as bad, Before running will need to get my fitness back.
Also do you notice that you sometimes don't notice it until you think about it and then it comes back at it's fullest, its really messing with my head lol!

Have you tried using a neti-pot? when my post nasal drip gets bad during allergy season I use that or another type of sinus rinse twice a day.

Haha, actually I was scared to use it at first but I was desperate!! My family all used the neti-pot and theres also a Sinus Rinse Squeeze Bottle (which I actually like better now).

It really is not uncomfortable to use if you use it right. The key is to lean your head as far forward into the sink as you can. If you don't it will just come out your mouth, not a big deal or anything, but less comfortable. The neti-pot is a little gentler than the sinus rinse squeeze bottle, but the squeeze bottle is easier to use in my opinion. And make sure you use warm water (but not hot!).

It might take a little practice to get the hang of it, but once you get it right you get hooked!

Hmm. Doesn't sound too bad. I think they aren't as common in the UK as the US though.

I need to be getting myself a neti pot, i've tried before a squirty bottle mixed with hot water and salt and squirted that in my nose kind of like you would a neti pot and it did work and make it better than it has been.
Nanonex is doing a good job I think or im not sure if anti biotics are working or not but not been as bad as last week.

    Hi,

I suffer with this an the ENT specialist I saw told me to use a mixture of warm water, salt and bicarbinate of soda and to use a plastic syringe to rinse the nasal passage, it works really well and saves loads of money on the pre mixed sprays you buy at the chemist.
