has anyone took diazipam while trying to come off citalopram

Hi all

Has anyone took diazipam while trying to come off citalopram? I am coming off citalopram and having bad anxiety. I don't want to take antidepressants any more I've only been on them 3 months and they didn't help me. I am on a waiting list for CBT. If anyone has advice please I would be very grateful.

yes i have used diazapam to help whilst getting on citalopram, and weaning off, with my doctors advice , they do help with the anxiety, but should only be used for a short time, please take time to wean of the cit, very slowly,and you should have minium side effects, good luck xx

I have some as had them since june when I first went on cit. Are you still off the citalopram? I am a bit impatiant to come off. I have suffered so much with jaw clenching and sickness while I have been on them. I have noticed that people tend to have bad withdrawals even if they wean slowly off them.

Hi cathy, i am still on citalopram but slowly coming off them now taking 30mg a day, i have reduced very slowly, 5mg every 4 weeks with minimal side effects, i was on 60mg, so am quite happy to be down to 30mg, will stay on that dose for a further 2 months or so, like you i would like to be off them completely, but i feel they are helping, so will continue to take things slowly. goos luck xx
