i had my first panic attack at the age of 25 (17yrs ago)
my 18yr old brother was killed by a hit & run driver weeks before.
i had never experienced a death quite so close before and this was a particularly bad "introduction" as i saw the road where he was killed covered in blood and saw his body in the morgue. an extremely shocking sight which stays with me today.
the fact that such a young vital & handsome man could be wiped out like this caused me to question my own mortality and made me extremely fearfull for the people that i loved.
i have since lived through more "tragedies" and realise that i cannot control fate and have found peace with that, though my experiences have left me with a place within myself where all the "fear" lurks ready to jump up and bite at any time (panic attacks).
i was prescribed dothiepin about 8yrs ago which i took for 2 years.
i was'nt warned though, that this drug is extremely difficult to come off and foind panics coming back with vengence after trying to come off them too quickly. it took me at least a year to wean myself off them.
this affliction is so seldom talked about, i am certainly very secretive about the extent of my suffering, so i am so pleased to find a site like this!
