Do you think it will work 2nd time around?

I'll try to keep it brief...

I have anxiety/ocd which leads to depression.
I went on Citalopram about 2.5 years ago
I worked wonders!!

About a month ago I decided to try to come off. So I weaned from 40mg to 20mg to 20mg every other day and then I stopped taking it for 3 days. I had a panic attack and OCD came back quickly.

So, I immediately went back on 20mg and at the advice of my psychologist I went back to the original 40 mg. I've been taking 40 mg for about a week.

My question is... do you think the drug will return to working as well as it was a month ago? I know it needs time to take affect, but I just hope it returns to its original effectiveness. Right now I'm experiencing some obsessive thoughts, and I wasn't having any of those over the last 2.5 years.

To be honest you came off it way too quickly!

You should look at some self help therapies and CBT as well as the medication so next time you can come off more easily - once you withdraw properly

yes nellie it should work for you, it did for me the second time, and you have not been off it long so hopefully it won't be too long before you feel the benefits again x

I came of cit a little too quick in the summer. I had to go back on it in Sept this year. To my surprise it took a month to kick in whereas originally it took 7 weeks to work. Strange that really. For me it's working second time around and the side effect, although similar and not nice at all, they weren't quite is horrific as the first time around.

I was more drowsey second time around.
