    Hello (& happy new year!)

    Hi Everyone,

I'm relieved to have found this site as for the last year I have felt like the only person in the world to be suffering from anxiety and panic attacks. I had my first full blown panic attack about 9 months ago and couldn't go into work for a week, I felt awful. Since then I've visited 4 different doctors, all of which have told me to do things like 'relax more' 'de-stress' 'take a bubble bath'....! So it's good to know there are other sufferers out there and that I'm not alone, and there are ways to heal. Looking forward to reading all the advice on here and begin facing my anxiety head on in 2012!

    Thanks

    xx

    Hi UKgal,
Panic attacks can be terrifying! I'm sure you'll pick up some good info here I have just joined myself and wished i had found it years ago. You sound very motivated which is great and you now have an instant support network as well.

    best wishes for 2012!

hey you don't need a GP you need someone who is trained in mental health, there's various different types, therapists and a psychiatrist will give you a proper diagnoses but they tend to deal more with medication rather than therapy.
ask your doc for a referral
