    EMDR?

Has anyone undergone EMDR? My therapist recommended it to me for dealing with a major trauma in my life, and I am trying to do some research on it.

    Re: EMDR?

I had EMDR once, purely because the CBT waiting list was huge. In all fairness, it was not for me and I gave it up after 4 visits because in hindsight, I should have never been referred for it.

I didn't have PTSD, so round hole, square peg springs to mind!!

That said, if you do suffer from PTSD then it is supposed to be very successful. I believe It was actually developed for Nam Vets who showed signs of PTSD, and then roled out to patients who suffered a trauma in thier lives.

There is some controversey over how it actually works as with most things, but on the whole I think it's accepted as the best treatment for PTSD, unless anyone else knows different

    Hope this helps,

    Jaco
