    Throat and tonque

I am new too this and hi my name is Mel. I have never been ill before so this is new too me but for the last five months I have been feeling anxious. It all started with pains in my head after having an MRI scan on my brain which showed everything was normal and there were no problems you would think I would feel better but I have developed an thump in my throat and I feel like I can’t swallow my food probably I have lumps at the back my tongue which you can visible see my doctor has told me not too worry about this that it’s just nervous and will go away on it’s own.

    Hope you can help

    Mel

    Hi Mel

I've had it too.....and saw the doctor who told me it was anxiety related. After reading posts on this site I now realise how many people get it too.

Thank you so much for your replies, my goodness this throat thing is a common problem. I have felt so much better today just sharing this with someone I am even about to tackle a roast dinner.

    Thank you Mel

    Hi Mel
Don't worry about the lumps at the back of your tongue, they are perfectly normal. I worried about them for weeks on my tongue. They are called 'circumvallate papillae' and contain some of your taste buds. Sometimes they lie flat, sometimes they are quite raised. My GP said a lot of people come into her surgery worrrying about them, but they are a normal part of your tongue.
    Love Helen
