    Unhappy annip

I am not very computer literate but hope this works. Just been reading about venlafaxine medication. I had severe depression and anxiety last year and could not function at all. Took citilopram, was very ill with side effects so doctor changed it to venlefaxine on advice from the mental health team. when it started working I felt it was like a miracle. For a year now I have felt wonderful. Very little anxiety and certainly no depression.
Stupidly (in hindsight) i recently started to taper it off. Did it slowly but have started to cry, feel low, anxious, shaky and sick. Scared me so upped my dose back to previous amount. Have done this for 3 days now but still don't feel better. Am scared that I have ruined something that was working so well for me.

    Hi Annip and

There are quite a few active venlafaxine threads at the moment and it might be useful to join in there - you'd be more than welcome. In case you're not sure how, go to forums and scroll down to the medication section. You'll see a link to Effexor/venlafaxine.

I'm on venlafaxine at the moment and the last time I was on it I had a similar experience to you where I stopped too soon. I upped the dose again and was right again about a week later so give it time. You know it works for you.

    Take care

    Pip x

Thank you so much for this info. I have searched and searched for something positive. I regret trying to come off the tablets but I didn't know if it was withdrawal symptoms or that the anxiety and depression were coming back. Anyway I'm back to original dose but still waiting to feel good and back to good form.
