Smear test

I had my last smear in February 2009, my gp said I'll receive a letter when I'm due but I've not received one as yet. I've always received letters in the past?

I'm going to ring tomorrow to book myself in but I've a dilemma, it sounds a bit silly but I had a polyp removed 3 years ago and I woke the next morning bleeding very heavily. It terrified me but I was told it would just be it had brought my period on as I was due. I'm now scared of procedures making me bleed, I even feel anxious during my periods:(

I'm mid cycle this coming week but at past smears I've been told my fertile mucus as its quite heavy can interfere with the result and I may be called back.

Would I be ok to go at another time? My mucus usually dries up the week leading up to my period. My periods are usually every 30/31 days.

They usually recommend you go mid clcle, so about a week and a half before youre due on... bus some doctors dont mind if you are due on any moment so long as you are not bleeding at that exact moment. All depend on who is doing it. Your best bet would be to call and ask. Docs and Nurses are very understanding when it comes to questions x
