Amitriptyline & Indigestion

Hi All,

I have been taking 10mg of Amitriptyline for migraine prevention since April 2009 (which they have worked very well so far) but for the last few months I keep getting chronic indigestion and was wondering if Amitriptyline is or can make this worse, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

hi simonmac, i have taken amitrypyline, citalopram, and now venlofaxine, and have indigestion with them all.....not sure if it's the tabs tho xx

Yeah I have taken Citalopram before but never had any issues with it. I just don't know if it's in my head or its the medication? Is it the sort of thing that builds up with certain medications over time?

could be simon, i told my gp, and she gave me some tablets for it, so don't suffer x

You need Omeprazole 20mgs. a day to prevent the indigestion and that should calm down your tummy. Good luck,

omeprazole are very good. I take them as I take aspirin which can upset the stomach,and my hubby takes them as he takes athritis tabs.
There are other meds too that can be prescibed. good luck
