How long for smear test results?

Roughly how long do they take to come back? I haven't received a letter calling me for my smear despite being due so I had one anyway. The nurse said to call the gp surgery for results incase for some reason I don't receive my letter.

Hi - depending on area no more than 2 weeks or even less. Remember years ago it used to be 6 weeks!!

Yes the letter should come direct to you - if you are worried phone your nurse at the surgery.

My sisters had there's within a week.

Hi - yes it does depend on areas unfortunately - does your sister live quite away from you? You will get a letter Savannah but, like with everything, just the waiting.

It was like that in my area a few years ago - Cambridgeshire but now they are quite speedy - sure everything will be fine.

The nurse may have given you the maximum time it takes may come back well before then! Fingers crossed. Try not to worry.

Here in the states..it's usually one week. If there is anything abnormal they will contact you, asap. If everything is normal they usually don't call you..and if you are curious why they haven't contacted you right away..it doesn't hurt to call the doctor.

Mine took two weeks.

Mine came back today, no letter but I rung GP surgery. Just under 2 weeks. All clear:-) x
