I am at Max dose 600mg!!

Hi,

I went to a Psychiatrist, also a Neurologist.

Psychiatrist gives me Clonazepam 2mg, Mirtazapine 90mg.

Neurologist gives me 400mg/day Tramadol SR, 600mg Pregabalin/day.

On top of that,

I actually go to other doctors, saying , the Benzo given to me doesn't fix my problem.
This is Mental health.
Unlike, infection, or diabetes where there are monitoring devices to measure how many mg of meds we have to take.

So the docs agree.
and prescribes me with more Benzo ( Alprazolam).

Ok.

What I want to say is, has anyone tried other anticonvulsant better than Pregabalin. As Pregabalin here in Australia is not subsidised and very expensive.

The meds like Carbamazepine, Phenytoin, Levetiracetam, etc I tried them.

But I am curuious with Gabitril ( Tiagabine).

Has anyone got experience with it?

( I got the script from the doc, but i don't say it to my Neurologist until really Tiagabine makes me better, in terms of : Panic, anxiety, Nernous tension headache etc.)

Firstly does the Pregabalin help? I know it is expensive - I had to pay for it privately for a while.

Surprised about what your shrink prescribed you. I think diazepam would be more suitable. I presume you have tried SSRI's but what about SNRI's like venlafaxine and duloxetine? They both have a fair bit of evidence showing benefit.

I have heard of sodium valporate being used but no others. Whilst pregabalin is expensive, it has been shown to be of benefit, and is used a lot for anxiety. You loose this certantity and possible safety if you use unlicenced medication and become effectively a guinea pig.

I am on a pregabalin/ duloxetine mix and it has certainly helped. The pharmacist said in her experience lots of people have had benefit from this combination ( expensive though).

Not sure if this has been helpful - oh and CBT may be of use.
