Wash hands after handling veg?

This is going to sound mad, so I apologise.

My husband and I have just got back from doing the food shop, we always have tinned veg but we've decided fresh is more healthier so for the first time tonight we've bought fresh.

Anyway, he picked up 3 unwashed carrots and put them in the bag.

Now my OCD is going sky high because he hasnt washed his hands and has been touching my hands, the computer, all the other food that we bought.

He says it's fine but I was always under the impression that if you touched fresh unwashed vegetables it was important to wash your hands before touching anything else. (I lived with my mum who was very OCD with food and germs so we never had fresh veg or meat growing up)

Is he right, is it ok?

I wouldn't worry too much about it to be honest. In the grand scheme of things vegetables are pretty harmless and I am sure you will be OK. It is more important to wash the veg before preparing them but I don't even bother with doing that. You will be fine.

Thank you. Hubby says that if they were that bad then veg would be in sealed packets like meat is x

Take the risk . You are meant to wash some kinds of fruit too but I only do it half the time and Im still here.
