this is an article by a Zen teacher on chronic pain (both physical and emotional) - even if you're not interested in meditation/religion/spirituality it might be inspirational as she makes some very good observations on the topic. It took me a long time to recognize panic disorder as a form of pain - actually it needed a very good friend who toldem me one day: 'How are you dealing with being in so much pain?' to realize that it is a form of pain as well.
