It's not a good idea but I, personally, need Dutch Courage.[:I] I also have never been anywhere social (as yet) without either my fiance or my sister - both of whom, for me, play integral parts in any socialising I do (which isn't very often I can assure you!) Banking on the fact that I actually leave the house after numerous clothing changes, hair checks, sobs, make-up retouching, I'm always a nervous wreck when we get into wherever we're s'posed to be. I then rely on the first few drinks to blot out the position I find myself in. I'd dearly love to get to the stage where I can just walk in somewhere & interact with others but - at the moment - it seems a distant dream. On reflection, I've been no help to you whatsoever [Oops!] & would also be interested in anyone else's tips!!

Hi - I hate social events too but now I try to hold my head high and walk forward and say "Hi" like Im really confident and "act" my way through situations pretending to be confident and it usually works!! Wenjoy x
Hi.
I am not sure what to suggest, I have stopped going to most social events etc. because I just get very worried and feel like everyone is watching me for some reason, I have been like this for a few years but recently it has got worse. I suppose the best thing to do really is to try and stay calm and relaxed and tell yourself that it will be ok and just keep being positive. Hope this helps.

Agree with Wenjoy,
'acting' our way through situations & wearing a mask becomes second nature.[)]
Doesn't it make you sick though that film actors can get paid ridiculous amounts of money for basically doing something that we do every day!!?:([Sigh...]
