    Constant Tiredness/Exhaustion

    Hi all,

Can anyone reassure me that anxiety & depression causes long term tiredness and exhaustion. I feel so drained of any energy, I've no reserve or stamina. I have had problems with health anxiety which has had me on high alert for a number of months but I'm now on medication and the anxt and everything associated is reducing slowly.

My dr tells me that anx and depression causes tiredness but I'm having a real hard time accepting this as I have never felt tiredness like it and it is (or was) unusual for me to be this tired. Anything slightly physical really tires me out now where as in the past it would not bother me. Socialising and drinking is now a major task for me and it sets me back a week rather than a day or so - if I actual have a drink.

I think that if I can accept this tiredness/exhaustion is a symptom of dep and anx then I can move on but at the moment it is still a major obstacle which I'm struggling with as I'm not seeing any real change for months now and is really worrying me.

Anyone else ever felt like this? I would really appreciate other peoples opinions.

    Thanks

I struggle with Fatigue and have done for a long time its different from day to day but ive noticed when i get myself up and do things rather then dwell on it im magically healed but only to then go back worse after.

I would say its definately a symptom of anxiety because we are over working our brains thinking about things and not just relaxing. Keep your head up and you will overcome it and be in a better place soon enough

Thanks Jay - it's such a vicious circle. The meds are kicking in and the irrational negative thoughts are going away but it is the physycal 'tired' symptom that I'm finding hard to deal with as they have been present for such a long time. Because of this the devil on my shoulder is chirping away telling me it is something else more sinister and so the anx ramps up. It is driving me to distraction!!!!

    Thanks for your input.

I know exactly how you feel its a very horrible cycle that if im being honest Meds can only do so much hence why i dont use them. Im looking into CBT to get a better understanding and actually get rid of the issue all together. Right now my little finger is shaking because i have been basically moving it proding it and poking it since i woke up a few times with numb fingers but ive probably now caused the aching which makes my anxiety worse due to constantly prodding and moving.

The problem is next week it will be something else then something else unless its a horrible cycle once stuck in its hard to get out of and this has been for 6 months nearly ive been through this since i had a bout of vertio when crossing a bridge its been 1 after another.

Just keep your head up and look for a fix im sure you will get there soon enough

im constantly soooo tired, exhausted, no motivation at all, even very simple tasks are so major. my recent bloods results revealed few things, amongst them i was deficient in vit D .., also aneamic, which makes u tired but gp said its also symptom of depression n my anxiety, i changed to fluoxotine [prozac] now on them 2weeks, as they can also help give energy motivation, but everyone different.
i can sleep for good length n still feel so tired..its awful xx good luck xx

Hi stress takes alot out of you so you feel more tired I tend to worry about feeling tired which then makes me even more tired i find if i sit down even if only ten min and try to eat regularly and harder part to accept the tiredness is ok, it all helps.
