ive got a hand washing ocd i wash my hands loads of times in a day go through hand wash like crazy and hand gels

I'm very sorry to hear that you're going through OCD.

One thing with the hand washing, is there any underline issues that causes you to profusely wash your hands? Like, for an example, does washing your hands countless times warden off evil or do something for you that temporarily reassures you?

thanks beckyboo there is a sickness bug going around my kids school and am scsred of getting it. i hand wash cause i belive my hands are dirty and if i dont i will get sick

Thank goodness! I thought I was alone! I have this exact problem. I don't know how it started, but it's gradually getting worse and worse. It's the only outward sign I give of the OCD I have which is something that really hurts me and destroys my life. I don't personally believe in hand gels because although they kill pretty much all of the bacteria, it just isn't the same as hand wash.

I have very slight OCD behaviours when it comes to hand washing. I have emetophobia and if i'm cooking chicken or pork I have to wash my hands loads of times. For example: when opening the packet, once I've finished cutting it, when I put the utensils in the dishwasher and then finally when i've put it in the pan. If we have a BBQ I like to be in charge of cutting the chicken or doing the kebabs because I'm petrified that if someone who cuts the chicken touches any cabinets or the fridge I won't know then i'll touch it and get food poisoning.
