    Re: absolutely devastated

My mum had a second opinion about her pancreas a couple of months ago, and the consultant did another endoscopy today. He said that my mum has got a tumour on her pancreas, and they are going to see if it's benign(sp) or malignant. I am very upset because we thought that my mum had inflamation of the pancreas. I am just praying that it isn't malignant, because if it is malignant she'll have to have an operation or chemotherapy.

    Re: absolutely devastated

So sorry to hear this. My father died of PC, and I have suffered from what has been dx as chronic mild pancreatitis for 3 yrs. I of course am paranoid because Im worried Im being misdx, or they are not "seeing lesions" on my scans.

The pancreas is a very hard organ to see, which is why this can go undected or misdx. I hope that everything is okay with your mother. I assume they are doing another biopsy. Have they run a CA 19 lab panel yet? Many times this is dramatically elevated (IF theya reactive to it, though and can be mildly inflammed with inflammation)

Do know that there are a lot of success stories of people who have the whipple procedure followed by chemo, and it sounds like IF it is PC then they feel they can do this surgery (most people are dx to late for this)

Keep us posted, and if you want any info on this ping me- I sadly know way too much about PC
