    anxiety with heart attack

    Dear All,
I have a friend who passed away on Friday last due to a heart attack. He was 25 years old. Since then im on high anxiety. Im getting palpitation all day long and even at night. Im 32 n I have a baby of 21 years old to look after. I get anxiety and palpitation since many many years now.
Im afraid that this may affect my health/heart. I had been to the doc, some months ago. He is said im ok.
Anyone suffering from palpitation since many years here.

    Wow 25? So sorry :(
Did he have any Medical issues or was he just one of those healthy people who get a heart attack suddenly?

There's always an exception to the rule.
There's the person who smoked everyday n lives to a 101, then the person who never smokes n gets lung cancer.

My palps started 4 years ago, I had a few tests at the hospital.
They got bad last year so I had more tests.
The tests said I was healthy.
I do find the palpitations heighten my anxiety n make it harder to relax.
How can I chill out when my heart is pounding or skipping beats, eek.

How bad are yours? Mine were so bad that both times my doctor sent me to hospital n they kept me over night.
I assume if yours were bad your doctor would at least send you for tests?

My heart rate is nearly always irregular ,
In fact if anyone listens to my chest they can hear how odd my heart rate is .
I'm do envious of people with nice smooth even heart beats!

    Hi there,

So sorry about your friend - very young to suffer from a heart attack. As Mishel said, it's very rare but there are always exceptions.

I've had missed beats and palpitations for many years and at first I thought I had a serious heart condition. After many tests, nothing was found and I've just come to accept them and live with them on a day-to-day basis. If your doctor's not found anything wrong, you just have to try to accept them too. As you do this, you should find that they ease off - mine did.

    Take care

    Pip x

Very sorry to hear about your friend. When this happens to a young person it is usually because they have some undiscovered heart defect. If you have had tests like an ekg and an echocardiogram this would have found those kind of defects.

There are lots of people on this forum who have palpitations every day - I have had mine for 8 years, others have had them for 20 years. If you have had heart tests and been told the palpitaions are harmless then you should be ok.
