    indirect laryngoscopy

I have had this procedure this evening. I have been suffering from hoarse voice or no voice and no singing voice. This has been disastrous as I do a lot of singing. It was decided that I should have this procedure to see if I have any nodules on the vocal chords. Some local anaesthetic was put in my nose which I had to sniff and swallow (unpleasant) I had to swallow the scope but it was not in place for very long. The diagnosis is inflamed vocal chords which can be an indication on acid reflux. I have been given some very strong steroids to reduce the inflammation. I did not have time to be afraid of the procedure and as it was done privately I was in and out. I have to drink plenty of water and inhale steam. I am looking forward to getting my singing voice back but I am supposed to be resting it at the moment. EJ.

Have been prescribed prednisolone 40mg for two days only high dose to reduce the inflammation. Still feel worried that I have done some permanent damage to my vocal chords. ENT specialist said that there were no nodules present and that the vocal chords looked healthy. I'm not sure if I will be well enough to sing next Saturday and that means a lot to me. It is rest, rest, rest. EJ
