Medication question

Hello,
I have posted a few times here, but I'm still newbie in the anxiety stuff. I got my medication yesterday and they include:
- Escitalopram 10mg first week and then 20mg in the evening,
- propranolol half a tablet in the morning and evening
- Xanax 0.5 mg in the evening until Escitalopram takes effect
- Magnezium + B6 in the morning and evening.

Now the questions:
- How long does it usually take for Escitalopram to take effect?
- I've read the propranolol is considered kind of outdated and there are better alternatives. Is this true?
- I though that Xanax has effect for only a limited time 3-4 hours. If I take only 0.5 mg in the evening it will not have any effect during the day, right?

Hey maybe check out the medication forum on escitalopram and the others.... You will find loa of help there.... I'm on escitalopram 20mg and it took a couple of months to kick in.... It's a good drug! Good luck...
