hi i was just wondering if i got this globus hystericus wouldnt i have what feels like a lump in my throat all the time or like a feeling of air rising up..... i dont get a lump all the time also my neck felt really weird last night i felt like i was being strangled sort of tight but not a lump can anyone relate

hi joy ive had barium swallow and results came back as mild acid reflux and the doc said a narrowing somewhere cant remember what she said exactly and she gave me lansoprazole 30mg once a day

ive only had medicine for 2 days how long should it take to work ?

I dont know can you not ring your gp and ask or ask the pharmacist.

Mine came and went. Ironically it was better when I ate and drank but sometimes it was very painful. At the worst point my whole jaw practically seized up and I could see how if you are very tense it might affect your neck. Antacids did not help me at all. I had a gastroscopy in the end and I had no evidence of any problems whatsoever yet I could not swallow, food was sticking in my throat and I could feel everything going down. From what I've read GERD can cause all of these symptoms. I would imagine your worry is probably exacerbating things. If you are worried I would push for a gastroscopy - only took 3 minutes and yes not amazingly pleasant but you are mildly sedated. If it stops the worry then I would say do that.

Ive had the lump feeling but mine is mainly an awful tightenning, like my throat is closing up, just below where my adams apple would be. Years ago I had barium meal too and was told I had a slight hyatus hernia. I take a deep breath and start to calm down a bit when I realise I can actually breathe but it can stay with me for hours. It really is a cruel symptom.
