2nd day on propranolol

Hello!

I'm new to this forum
I've been going through a tough few days and have had a number of panic attacks, generally worrying and feeling a bit down. I went to my GP who has put me on propranolol. I took two 10 mg tablets yesterday and within an hour and a half felt great. I slept really well last night and took two this morning and all day I've felt so down and depressed and have been crying. I was wondering whether this means that propranolol is not for me or whether it was side effects of the drug. I was also wondering has anyone had similar sort of side effects and if those side effects past?

I'm going to give the tablets till sometime next week and if there is no improvement I will go and see my GP again.

Hi

I have been dealing with anxiety for a few years now, but in this past few months it has become worse. My GP prescribed propranolol to me, I take 10mg 3 times a day, sometimes more if I feel the need, as my GP said I can take upto 30mg 3 times a day. They do work pretty fast and I dont know what I would have done without them, but they only deal with the physical symptoms of anxiety. I went back to see my GP and she put me on Citalopram as well, which is an AD. So im taking both at the moment. I have also been referred for CBT.

If your feeling really low it might be a good idea to go back and see your GP to discuss your options.

Hi iv been taking propranolol 40mg once a day for 8 weeks now and it seems to of reduced my anxiety alot.

I think it takes a week or two to start working.

My doctor said that side effects were quite rare.

Hope you start to improve soon.

Hi

I take an 80mg slow release propanolol each day alongside 30mg of cit. I'm not convinced it helps, but I sure as hell don't want to stop! I've been on them for around 3 months.

I stuggle sleeping and wonder whether it may be the drugs.

Otherwise I hardly noticed a difference. I'm much better that I was 6 months ago, but I don't credit the drugs with all of the improvement.
