I am booked in for an endoscopy and colonoscopy in a couple of weeks to determine the cause of my low iron level. Needless to say I am petrified.
I have suffered anxiety on and off for a long time now, went to the doctor in 1995 suffering from 'mad cow disease' and was diagnosed with anxiety.
Fast forward 17 years and I still suffer, although the last few months has become quite bad again with me obsessing about having some life threatening illness.
I called the doctor to question my procedure coming up (in the vain unlikely chance that he had referred me by mistake) and of course he hadn't.
I decided to bite the bullet and pour my heart out to him about my anxiety issues and how it is now affecting my life again and even my marriage is becoming strained.
He has booked me in to see him tomorrow which fills me with both dread but also relief that it is finally out and I am going to be able to chat to a doctor about it and maybe be referred to chat to a specialist.
What has made this worse recently is I can feel a lump on the side of my throat/tongue/mouth down further I can see and it is terrifying me as I am now convincing myself I have cancer. I was at the doc for it about a month ago and he had a very quick unreassuring look in my mouth and said he couldn't see anything (which is probably because he didn't look long enough) and sent me packing with a mouthwash which has done nothing.
So hopefully I have now taken the first step to try get this under control again before it takes my life over again.
