Propranolol advice needed please!

I take propranolol 40mgs twice a day and have done for years

I find that the two tablets a day is just about right for me I take mine every day, not as and when, as I find it more helpful to have it in your system all the time really as it stops the symptoms of anxiety getting too bad.

My Doctor also allowed me to take Propranolol as needed (that's what he agreed to, even though he put 3xdaily on the prescription).

I used to take Atenolol daily, as apparently it's better tolerated, but I don't think it did a great deal.

i've been prescribed propanolol as an adjunct to citalopram as i felt the citalopram was doing very little ..my gp said i could take it as and when and that is what i do, usually at night to get me off to sleep with my herbal sleep aid. I have taken it during the day but im trying not to be reliant on it but it depends how the anxiety goes!!
it does seem to help just taking it on an ad hoc basis ie as and when i need it, work is pretty stressful at the moment, and i take a pack to work in my bag just in case but im hoping i wont need them that regularly!! will see how it goes...
she did say it could cause some dizziness if i was to take it on the 3 times a day prescription on the box and i have noticed it can make me feel very lethargic and sleepy, hence why i keep to taking it at night or in the evening when i get back from work and cant switch off!!
im on 40mg up to 3 times a day
