Thread: West Yorkshire?

    Re: West Yorkshire?

Yates's may be less busy than weatherspoons but probably too busy for me on a bad day, it surprises me that these meets are held in such venues, often in the centre of large towns, the last place I want to be when feeling anxious!
I suppose this is exposure therapy?

    Hi captcha,

I do understand your concerns regarding where we have our meets. The only reason we have meets at these venues is due to access. We have a lot of members who travel quite away from each part of the county. Leeds is quite accessible for public transport routes and the venues we choose are within a short walking distance from the train station and bus routes, as some members do have mobility problems.

If any members do have any suggestions on venues, please do mention them. We would be happy to try somewhere new as long as people do not have far to travel.

    hi
I understand the transport/logistic thing, I sometimes forget not everyone is able or fortunate enough to drive everywhere.

Can anyone intending to come please post on here so other member know who they may expect to see.

So far and correct me if I am wrong, Rebecca (speckles69uk), Gemma (oh no 1), Mike who is not a member, but a friend to everyone who usually attends, and myself.

Sunday's are much quieter than Saturday's, most people are winding down for the coming week. You are also right about the exposure therapy, that is what we are all doing, and it is not easy for anybody even if they have attended before, anxiety doesn't just disappear overnight. I wish I had a magic lamp like Aladdin.x

yes you are right sarah it most certainly doesnt dissapear and can be feeling fine for one meet and then not for another.
if it helps anyone it usuall the journey (where sat and have time to think) where thinking starts and fears, for me anyway, and the getting there that is the hardest part, once there and calmed a bit it easier. I always use the toilet for some time out if i need it too.
Hope this helps some of you thinking of coming. It is good to help us to socialise, i met new friends, friends for life and been there so much for me and look forward to seeing them at each meet.

I can't promise anything and my anxiety will probably get the better of me, but I am going to try to make it to the next Leeds meet up on the 22nd September.

I have got to meet Mike outside the train station, so I can meet you at the same time, I think he wants me to meet him outside the front, but we can arrange nearer the time.x

I am so sorry about your Mum Julie, you have been very strong, well done girl, you are much tougher that you give yourself credit for. If you plan to come let me know nearer the time and I will send you my mobile number, we will all understand if you can't get there.x

I am feeling ok today. I've realised it's not doing me any good, being indoors alot.

Really do hope I feel up to going to Leeds next Sunday.
