    Thumbs up Re: Amitriptyline

    Hi Sazlebazle

I started off at 50mg in the hospital and went up to 100mg in a few days but there were people watching me in the ward so it's a bit different from your situation. They do get a bit of getting used to mind you. What I like about them I don't feel so anxious in the morning. I know this is a crap way of doing it but I guess it is like any other medication you may have to experiment. Maybe your G.P could give you a guide to upping your dose. I wish you all the best....I should say that I still get anxious and feel depressed. I then have to try other things like C.B.T. or getting out the house. The tablet just seems to be better than what I have had before. Are you taking any Diazapam I take 3 * 2mg each day but this is only for a couple of months.....All the best whatever you decide to do....

Been on them a few weeks now and hey presto my headaches have subsided Still gettin the odd bit of tension but nowhere near as much as before. My ibs has calmed down and I think my anxiety has been helped, start a new job next week so I'll see how I get on. Back at the Drs for a review in the next couple of weeks so in goin to ask to stay on them. How long have people been taking them?

Not good, my Anx came back with vengeance... Been off them over a year now..they don't cure, only mask symptoms. So you can be back at square one...they are used mainly now for nerve damage, pain etc
