amitriptyline instead of Tamazypan??

my doc has given me these instead of tamazipan that I use JUST if I can't get to sleep. she says that tamazipan is now known to add to Altziemers!! but redeady all the reports these seem to be antidepressants and also have lots of side effects like being dizzy. I've had antideps before that space me out, they're horrible so not keen....any comments. ta

Temazepam is a benzodiazepine and should only be taken as and when needed. Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant that is also used for pain relief and nerve complaints. Is there any other reason your Dr has prescribed these? They take a while to work and aren't normally given for insomnia.
