Occasional stabbing pain left side of chest

For the last couple of days I have noticed that I get a short stabbing like pain on the left side of my chest. The pain doesn't last very long (maybe 2 seconds) and then goes away. Then maybe half an hour to an hour later, I feel it again. Sometimes there is a longer interval between each pain. The pain is not unbearable, but enough t make me notice it. Of course my first instinct is that there is something wrong with my heart and it worries me. I also have the habit of touching the affected area a lot and sort of sqeezing it (not sure why, maybe to lessen the pain when it comes again). I went to my gp about 15 months ago as I had palpitations, I got an ecg which was fine, so that was probably just anxiety, but this time it's not palpations but short pain every now and again. Has anyone else had this? Has it turned out to be nothing serious? Thank you all.

I get this in my lower left ribcage, along with occasional dull long lasting pain. I think it is common with anxiety.

I get this often and put it down to anxiety.
