So I am to stop taking pills

I have been on Anafranil for a year. My doctor has told me to finish the weening process and take none. This is a scary prospect as I'm just about to go back to work in a weeks time. Perhaps I should see this as an achievement. But I'm still scared. He thinks I might become addicted if I don't stop soon. He's right of course I cannot take them forever. hear goes [:X]

    Hiya

Perhaps see it as the end of one chapter and the start of another?

    Stay positive!

    Hi. Thanks for your replies.

I'm starting to see that my anxiety usually stems from being very unconfidence in myself. I have very very low self esteem. Everyting I have acheieved (quite a bit over the years) seems to count for nothing when I feel bad. I hate to think of it as an illness I cannot control but something I can fight and win. I'm pleased I'm stopping the pills and grateful to a doctor who will support me in this. Fingers crossed.

    Hi Tulip,

Good luck both with going off the meds and returning to work. I personally think these are both great achievements!

I have been doing well coming off pills.

I am starting nto get obsessive thoughts again. I find it hard to describe - just a general calustophobia within my own brain. I can put up with it but I'm worried because the drugs I had been taking were meant to stop this. They didn't help the anxiety at times but they helped this intrusive feeling. The doctor want me to come off them 1. Because I am ready 2. Because they will become addictive 3. They are a very old brand. Though I seem to be generally calmer than I was this time last year.

This anxiety/drug/obsessive thougts thing is complicated isn't it.

I'm going back to work on Monday, perhaps that is putting pressure on me indirectly making feel slightly insecure.
