Hi all,

I wanted to introduce myself. I've followed many threads on this site and have now decided to register. Happy new year to you all.

I'm a 22-year old male in good health, however I've recently become 'hypo-aware' of symptoms concerning bowel cancer. I've no history in the family and other than the occasional small amount of blood on toilet paper after wiping; I've no real reason to believe I have bowel cancer - oh the joys of health anxiety!

It is holding me back slightly and I want this to be eradicated in 2013 so I can begin to fully enjoy my young life without these silly worries. As a public relations professional, I need to make the most of my outgoing and energetic personality which is becoming diluted amongst my anxiety.

I look forward to discussing with you all and wish you all the best in our collective quest for a health anxiety-less life.

Hi Ellvee - really glad you've registered. It took me a while too but there's no stopping me now.
As you say, the joys of health anxiety..... When I was growing up (I'm an ancient 49 now) I didnt realise I had health anxiety going on. In fact, it's only recently reading what people say on here that I realise that's what it was. Maybe it was better I didnt know & also that there was no google for looking thtings up. Who knows. I'm much better now & find myself reassuring others instead of getting stressed about health things myself. I've re-trained myself not to go there which is great.
You have a good understanding of what's happening to you and I'm sure that's an important factor in striving for that "health anxiety-less life". There's every probability you will overcome this and fully enjoy your young life. Hmmm so wonderful to be young. I supose we all get silly worries but if you can remain realistic over it that's a bonus.
It's great that you have an outgoing and energetic personality - you can use that to hlep you chat with everyone here. Your enthusiasm already shines through.
