Pink discharge a couple of days before my period

For the last few months, I've sometimes been getting a pink discharge a day or 2 before my period is due to start. The pink discharge only lasts an hour or so and I normally only notice it on a tissue when wiping myself after going to the toilet (sorry if this seems yukky but it's the only way I can describe it!) Then it stops and a couple of days later I get my actual period, which usually lasts 6 days. I don't get the pink discharge every month though.

Is this normal or is it anything to be concerned about?

I used to get this all the time, and just took it as a sign that my period was imminent (I don't get it anymore as I don't get periods - Cerazette!). It's your body having a little "clear out" before the big event, if you'll excuse the expression lol

I agree with Elle-Kay, I get this once in a while (not every time) and just assumed it was my period getting started slowly. I wouldn't worry if you aren't having any other issues.

It's just your body slowly kicking in for your period.

Like Elle, I'm thankful that I've stopped with all that now

Thanks for that - it's helped to put my mind at rest. I did Google this earlier (I know I probably shouldn't have done that) and some of the websites said some scary things!

Elle-Kay, can anyone ask to go on Cerazette or does there have to be a particular medical need? Are there any side effects of that medication? I wouldn't care if I never had a period again as I don't plan on having children ever! I just wondered if there are any potential harmful effects of stopping your periods long term?

It's just one type of birth control pill. As far as I know there aren't potential serious affects. I am on a different pill and have been on it for over 5 years. If you ever change your mind about kids you can just come off them!

I would imagine anyone can go on Cerazette, but I was put on it because I got regular migraines on Microgynon. I haven't had any side effects on it except it stopping my periods (which is quite common but doesn't happen to every woman). There is SOME thinking that stopping your periods indefinitely could cause fertility issues later in life (my herbalist believes this), but this doesn't concern me personally.
