I haven't googled (yay me!) so I'm not sure what the actual symptoms of IBS are. My sister has it but she tends to get constipated. Mine is the opposite.
This last week I have had stomach pains right around my belly button which feel like trapped wind, I've also had really bad diorrhea. I am on antibiotics for an abcess so thought it may be something to do with that (not sure how plausible that is) but last night I went to bed, was trying to drop off and suddenly was hit with sharp pains in my stomach, I took an antacid as this usually relieves my trapped wind. I did release some wind which helped a bit and then I was stuck on the toilet for the next half an hour..I actually came out in a cold sweat and thought I was going to die. Finally when I was empty (sorry!) the pains subsided. Does this sound like IBS? Usually I would put it down to the antibiotics but the thing is I have had episodes of this before, say every 3 months or so and it just seems to flare up and the pains can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days..I don't usually try and do anything to relieve it though, such as taking any antacid or trying to "empty" myself which I consciously did last night to relieve it. So the fact I've had it before several times has me second guessing the antibiotics.
I also have GERD if this is of any relevance.
Oh and I'm still having diorrhea/loose stools when I have a BM too
