Jury Service?

I have heard today that hubby has been called for Jury Service in March. He seems quite pleased about it! I was wondering as I have been an inpatient in a psychiatric hospital and also still see my GP regularly would I be permanently excluded from Jury Service? I know that people are randomly selected and that you might be called but not sit on a Jury? Does anyone know? My last admission was in 1992 but I have had day patient treatment since then and seen Dr J my psychiatrist. I have never committed any sort of crime apart from being mentally ill. Thanks guys. EJ

I've had jury service twice, and AFAIK if you're of sound mind at that time, then you're eligible.

I was called for jury service when I was going through a very traumatic time but wasn't classed as mentally ill. I wrote back and asked if I could be excused and explained the circumstances. They withdrew me without having to have a doctor's note.
