    24 hour urine test again!

I had to have a 24hr urine test to see if my adrenal gland wasn't giving off too much adrenaline which could be causing my high BP, I had one with acid, and another without, so technically I had a 48 hour urine test.

My doctor said something came back ever so slightly high about .3 of something which I can't remember what she said, but apart from that she said everything was clear. I think they were checking for Catecholamine, and I'm pretty sure she said it was the cortisol that was ever so slightly high,
And she booked an appointment with the cardiologist to see what they want to do, either do the urine test again or something else. ( that appointment is next week )
I asked my doctor what they would do if it's high again and she said they'd give me tablets, but I don't believe that? can doctors lie, well not lie, but sugar coat something because she knows I will 'google' and get worried?

And is high cortisol normal for people with stress? or anxiety.

Elevated cortisol is normal in people with anxiety. Your cortisol levels are always higher in the morning as well which is why ou can feel more depressed in the mornings.

What is the cardiologist looking for? Have you had ECGs etc and got the all clear?

Re: 24 hour urine test again!

Well, I'm 21 years old and have high BP, I've been put on medication now.
I had cancer when I was 15/16 so have always been under the supervision of Doctors, when my first Doctor (who treated my cancer) kept an eye on my BP and it kept going up over the years. So he referred me to the heart institution, and the cardiologist there has done an MRI scan on my heart and brain, ECHO on my heart and I've had an ECG when I went. Everything has come back normal, and the 24hour urine test was to see if there was anything they could pick up which could be causing my blood pressure.
Currently they're bringing it down to it's in my genes. Maybe it's my Anxiety/Stress levels? I'm not sure.
My GP told me the urine test came back fine, however, the cortisol level was ever so slightly high, by a point 2/3 If I can remember correctly. So she's booked me in again with the cardiologist to see what they want to do about it, either do another 24 hour urine test or something else which I don't know.

From what I know I've only been suffering from HA for about 2 years, which leads me to believe that it probably isn't my anxiety which is causing BP.

Generally I'm quite active, I do bodybuilding, and I am slim. I've started up cycling which I tend to do regularly to help my BP.
I had a 24hr BP monitor too, not long ago and my reading when asleep were completely normal, and my average BP over the 24hrs was 138/70 my highest reading was at the doctors when I was getting the monitor put on, 170/105
and gradually over the hours it went down. When I'm asleep it's around 90/110 50/60

Just a quick update, went to see the cardiologist today!
And they're making me do another 24 urine test to see whether my cortisol is high again.

I had two 24hr test done within 48hrs first came back normal cortisol second came back slightly high.
I'm hoping this one will be okay as well! otherwise I'm going to have 'specialised blood tests' to see whether my cortisol gives extra cortisol with synthetic cortisol injected into me.
