Took first propanolol today!!

Hi guys, Im feeling very anxious today at work so I have taken my first papanolol tablet hope it works!! .....Is any one else on them? Im taking 40mg three times a day!!

I take them occasionally (although my prescription said 40mg, 3 times a day) in agreement with my Doc.

What do you expect from them? They're not an anxyiolytic.

They're good if you get anxious at a fast heart-beat as they slow it down.

Hope you get the benefit you seek from them.

I told the doctor i dont have a fast heart rate with the anxiety i just feel constantly on edge so she said.these tablets will make me feek calm. which is what i want them to do. sometimes my anxiety makes me feel really bad especially when im at work so i need something to help me!!

Yes i'm on them i take mine as and when needed. They should calm your physical symptons, its a beta blocker it blocks your beta receptors in your lungs and heart from the andrenalin when your anxious and panicking

after reading this board today, i will be going to the doc's next week and requesting a heart exam and if that comes back good i think i will request propanolol as it seems that it has helped most people with their anxieties and racing heart..i am losing my battle of self help and the attacks are coming more often

ive been on them for 4 months and they have had a fantastic calming effect
im on 80mg daily slow release
only bad point is im getting fatter
gained about a stone in that time
oh and the 1st week i was soooooooo tired all the time but thats gone now
going to try coming off them soon so i can lose some weight for the summer(which also helps my anxiety)

I've been on propranolol for about a year now, I was on 10mg twice a day for that but now I've been put on 80mg a day. Its really helped me with my anxiety, I had a constant racing heart because of it and that would bring on panic attacks so its worth it

Im taking them as and when needed! I took one at work the other day because I started to shake for no reason, i wasnt even panicking and felt unwell and after about an hour i felt so relaxed and kinda sleepy it was nice! I have been alright since so have not had to take any but ive been to the docs and stocked up some more! I carry them around in my pocket at work and it makes me feel better knowing they are there if i need them! xx

I use them bit not directly for anxiety - they ahve no effect on this afaik, but for me they are to control palps.
