A week late for my period...still worrying and cramping, help?!

    Hi guys.
Ive posted in here not long ago about this but as usual this symptom is driving me insane.
I have taken 4 preg tests, all negative.
I have stomach and vaginal cramps, also leg cramps now and again.
My breasts are tender, I feel as though im going to come on but still havent.
Im really concerned this is a serious issue, ive googled and ovarian cancer, early menopause, ovarian cysts and premature ovarian failure has come up.

Im actually thinking of going to a&e to see if i do have a cyst?

1 week late isn't that much really. I find if I am anxious about my period it just doesn't arrive. You just got to calm down and try to forget about it. Maybe make an appointment with your GP if it'll help put your mind at rest but I think the stress of being in A&E for hours won't help. The most important thing you can do is try to relax and forget all about it. Like the watched pot never boils, once you forget about it it'll surprise you.

I thought stress could only delay ovulation not period itself?

    Stress can stop periods.

You don't need to go to A&E. See your doctor if you feel you have to.

Well there you go then. They know what they are talking about more than us lol

Ovarian cysts are not an indication of ovarian cancer anyway - I have one at the moment and fibroids.

If you went to A&E they would not do a scan anyway so there is no point.

Has it ever affected your period?

I've had many cysts before as part of my fertility issues (I suddenly stopped ovulating regular after 26 years of clockwork 28 day cycles - when you don't ovulate a small cyst can form where the "failed egg" is) and some of them just faded away and some of them did indeed pop - it stung a little bit for a few seconds but that was it.

As you said, stress can stop ovulation and not ovulating stops your period.

Many doctors actually say to wait 3 cycles before seeking help if you are missing periods because it is so common to skip periods.
