not sure which medication to try next?

    hi there,

ive tried about 7 different antidepresants over the last year, most of them have been the ssri's.

none of them have had any real effect.
i was on citalopram for about three years and it worked for me.
but then i came off it two years ago. but then went back on it six weeks later and it didnt have the same effect unfortunately.

i suffer from gad, ocd, social phobia and panoc attacks. and i get that depersonalisation.

    im under a psychiatrist.

he has suggested too try these medications next:

clomipramine, reboxetine, clomebromide(not sure spelling) ands phenlyzine.

anyone on any of these? how are you finding them? i really want too make the correct decision on which one too try now.

    thanks.

    will

    hi,
sometimes it takes a lot longer for the ssri to work even if you had it before,
how long are u giving it before changing? ive got gad and on citalopram and they didnt start to work until 7 half-8 weeks in.
perhaps you need a ssni this uptakes the other thingy in your brain aswell.
i havent heard of any of the other meds soz

    Hi Will,

Have you had any psychotherapy or counselling yet? If not, it would be worth trying that before embarking on more drugs.

I did the same thing and I have/had terrifying depersonalisation.

    Been thru many meds.

The SSRI meds didnt do toooo much and they put me also on avanza (mirtazapine) (axit) (same thing - different names) and this helped more than others did. (calmed me a lot overall)

Also take fish oil - helped a lot

Have also been prescribed seroquel and this also helped massively.
    See this here also:
http://www.docguide.com/news/content...25713E0071120F (helped depersonalization and made my ssri work better)

    Ask them about these too.

    Hope that helps.

    hi juju and eeby jeeby,

juju im givingnthe meds four too six weeks before changing.

eeby jeeby. yeah ive just started seeing a cbt therapist one too one.

it is going well. it is very tough. as i have too change 15 years of faulty thinking. but im going too persist with it. it is powerfull stuff. ive beaten myself up so much over the last year. now im learning too be kinder to myself and too stay off my own back. its so unhealthy and keeps u in the cycle the faulty thinking.

thanks for the replys all of you.

    take care,

    willx
