    Reiki - WOW

I have just had a session of Reiki and it was so great I wanted to share it with you all!

I've had Reiki before and I've also got my Reiki 1, so this is nothing new to me, but I was recommended this particular Reiki master by a friend. She knows nothing about me and didn't ask any questions beforehand about any complaints/concerns I had.

I found the treatment amazing and relaxing, but towards the end I had extreme pain across my forehead and a feeling that she was opening it up and pulling out stuff.

After the treatment, she told me she had picked up on:

    intense worrying over everything
constant thoughts I can't switch off
    lack of motivation and energy
    tummy troubles (I have IBS)
tense muscles all over and inability to relax
    knots in my shoulders
    lower back pain
    a lack of emotional support

I asked her about the pain in my head and the feeling I had, and she said it was where she had opened my crown chakra and had pulled out all my negative energy, bad thoughts, etc.

This was completely amazing, she was able to tell me exactly how I am feeling.

I am feeling really good at the moment and I have booked another treatment for next week. It really was incredible. I have never experienced something physical when it's not physical, if you know what I mean (as in the pain and pulling from my head when she wasn't touching me, just my aura!).

It's so hard to explain as I guess to anyone else it doesn't sound convincing, but I would really recommend anyone thinking about it to give it a try!

Hey, sounds like it really helped you out. I just had my first reiki session yesterday and I wasn't too sure what to expect. But I have to say it really helped -- I could definitely feel a 'lightening of the load'. I'm hoping to go back in a few weeks and would be interested to know if anyone else has had success with alternative therapies (mainly for anxiety, which is what I suffer from)

I also had a Reiki session yesterday.Did any of you have to fill in a lengthy questionaire before hand? It took simply ages. I went in to see her at 11.15. and didn't come out till 2.pm. She wanted to know everything about me before she started the Reiki. Before I went to see her she phoned to say that she would do aromtherapy oils as well, which was extra charge. I thought it was going to be a massage but all she did was put the oils in an oil burner. It was £60 for the session which I thought was a bit steep. I do feel calmer to-day though.

Hi, thanks for all your comments.

Firstly, I paid £30 for the session which was only about 30 minutes or so of actual reiki and quite a bit of chatting afterwards (at least another 30 mins)! However, the reiki was very intense. When I did my reiki 1 course, I learnt a "routine" that takes about 45 - 60 minutes. I guess it depends on the therapist but I don't feel short changed that my treatment only lasted 30 mins as it was so effective.

I think £60 is steep for any therapy. After all, with things like Reiki, you are only paying for the practitioners skill and time, there are no "product" costs as such - although if you have a treatment in a salon I would expect to pay more as they have more overheads than someone mobile or working from home. Also charging you for burning oils is a bit cheeky really. To my mind, it's like asking you to pay extra if you listen to music through your treatment! I would ask a client first if they are happy to have music, oils, etc because of specific taste, but not to charge them for it.

The reiki I learnt is hands on, basically working at specific points of the body by resting your hands on them. Not like a massage at all and you remain fully clothed throughout.

The reiki I received today was on my aura, so she didn't even touch me! Which is why it was so amazing that I felt this opening and pulling out of the negative influences.

I'd recommend everyone try Reiki once - often you can go along to a "pamper" or "taster" evening (often at schools for fundraising) and get a short treatment done for £5 or £10. It is very relaxing and stress relieving if nothing else!

Thanks for that Caroline. I thought it was a bit steep, and yes I did have to pay extra for the aromatherapy blend that she put in the burner it was £8. There was also a £25 fee for the consulation at the start.

It sounds to me like the practice you went to was over commercialised. My aunty is a Reiki master, she works from home in her spare time (works elsewhere full time) and only charges £20 however long the session takes. It is about healing, first and foremost, and most practitioners do it to help others, not make a quick buck.

I've never had it done but my mum swears by it. Definately will now though- after all I get it free!

I've never heard anything negative about Reiki, so I'm not surprised to hear it raved about!
