Stopped working after 4 weeks????

Hi guys

So i started Venlaxafine 150mg about 5 weeks ago. Took about a week to notice benefits. Eventually managed to go back to work and everyday didnt feel like a horrible nightmare. Then all of a sudden a couple of days ago my severe anxiety started coming back and now i feel like im back to where i started? Had to ring up sick for work.
I was originally on Citalopram 30mg for around 5 years and it worked wonders but stopped working so was swapped to Venlaxafine.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

well im new to the drug but it makes sense to go back to your gp he may to give u a short course of diazepam, or he may up the ven dose i would go on monday

Sounds like you need to increase your dose. Have a word with your GP.

I would suspect that withdrawal effects from citalopram are kicking in. Keep the dose as it is and see if things get better.

If things get bad ask your doctor for some diazepam. Other things that can help include chamomile tea, limiting caffeine/sugar, and light exercise. Propranolol can help if you've got a rapid heart rate/palpitations.

I experienced withdrawal symptoms around a month after stopping citalopram - I was only on it for 8 weeks, though I suspect it was also linked with fluoxetine withdrawal (which was what I was on before).

I had bad withdrawal at being on 10mg Cipralex for 5 years.

Have you been back to your GP? I agree with the last posts about Diazepam or Propanolol while things are kicking in on Venlafaxine
