propranalol dosage increase not good advice needed

hi folks
ive been on propranalol 80mg slow release for 5 months now with good results
i was originally given it by my doctor to help anxiety and daily tension headaches
it really helped with my anxiety making me much calmer and i sufferd no side effects apart from lethargy the 1st week but did little for the headaches
the other day the doc doubled to dose to 160mg taken in the morning
i took the 1st double dose around 10am no problem all day til about 6pm when i was out walking to the shop i became very dizzy,unsteady on my feet
the 10min walk home was a challenge and when i got in i was sweating buckets
literally wiping my head with a towel and before i could put the towel down sweat was running down my forehead again
it lasted about 20-30 mins all in the subsided
i havent taken the higher dose again just wondered if anyone experienced anything similar
seemed abit odd coming out the blue hours after taking the meds

I think it might be your blood pressure causing the dizziness. Propranolol does affect the blood pressure.

I take 40mg propranolol 3 times a day since march 2011. The birth of my last child caused my anxiety/worry problems. I had my dose decreased from 40 to 20 as I felt like after 2 years I might need to come off soon. Oh my days I was wrong back up to 40 now and I feel so much better.

not risking going through that again

Does the 80mg slow release help with anxiety as I have started to take them again and just taken my 2nd?
