Will going down to 7.5mg make me loose weight

Hello forum members. Going through a real conflict at the moment. My Dr and I have ascertained that I am effectively using mirt for sleep purposes and do not suffer from depression anymore.

I have started to feel very low about the weight I have put on, near enough 1.5 stones. I would like to come off, but worry about the affect it will have on my sleep.

My doctor is suggesting that I go down to 7.5mg with the attempt that it will continue to help me sleep and shift some weight.

I wanted to ask forum members whether they had experienced any weight loss at 7.5mg of mirt.

Any advice would be much much appreciated.

I've experienced weight loss at 15mg, but only if I stick to my diet.

My biggest problem with mirt is not the weight loss, rather the increased appetite, which certainly happened when I started taking it, but I feel it's mostly just a habit now.

That said, I was 4 stone overweight before mirt and stayed that way, so it's probably easier for me to lose, say, 7lbs than it would be for you.

That said, I've had to monitor my intake to actually maintain the same weight I started at, but I have lost and put on again, half a stone at times, when I've made a real effort to lose it.

As for the 7.5mg, that should still help you sleep, it's worth a try

I've lost weight taking 45 mg a day of mirtazapine, but only by calculating my base level energy intake need less twenty per cent for each day, and keeping a food/energy intake diary to make sure I didn't go over.

I know it sounds boring, but this and nothing else has worked for me.

I currently take 7.5mg and have lost weight on this but only through reduced calorie intake. I gained almost 2 stone when I started on this med along with pregabalin but did manage to lose it when I put my mind to it and reduced the amount I was eating...difficult at times as I feel it increases the appetite!!
