cipramil aus vs citalopram uk

Hey there!!
When i was in the UK i was placed on citalopram. It took a while to work, but when it did i finall felt normal. my anxiety diminished, i stopped over eating, feeling emotional and became calm. This continued for three months, when i returned to aus the GP put me on cipramil, which i was told is the same thing just branding difference. Over the last 6 months i have slowy regained symptoms of depression and anxiety and have currently decreased my dosage to 10 mg to eventually cease the medication. I'm wondering if some of the active ingridients are different in vs UK or that medication has just stopped being effective?

We have Cipramil here in the UK too and it is just another name for Citalopram. so they are exactly the same.

Just to add to this, when I was on Citalopram, the box and branding was different quite a number of times (as I used different pharamacies), even the pills were a different shape - but they all did the same thing.

Quite a few people, myself included, just found the medication "ran out of steam" after a while and stopped working, so switched to something different. It can happen with this type of medication.
