HELP!!! Upped Dosage

Hey upped my dosage of citalopram from 30mg to 40mg. So this is day 2. I've been on it for 5 years at 20mg and 30mg for past year. Since upping dose yesterday my legs feel like burning rushes going through them and quite anxious. Anyone who has upped to 40mg can u please tell me is this normal and will it pass??? Took a Xanax a while ago the doctor gave me for very anxious times. I need reassurance please x

Hey Asha,

Im not on cit myself but it sounds like its just side effects from upped dose give it a few days say a week if you dont feel any better then just go back to gp and explain but im pretty sure they will subside

I was lucky and didn't get too many problems going from 30mg to 40mg, mostly tiredness and feeling a bit out of it - but it passed within a few days. I'm sure you'll feel better soon.

I just re-started Citalopram for the second time 6 weeks ago and got the burning skin symptom when I started. The burning skin cleared for me on the 4th week I think. The first time I was on it I took it for a year and that was 2 years ago. That time I also got the burning skin when I first started it at 20mg and each time I upped the dose to 30mg and then to 40mg.

Hi Asha, I have increased my dose from 20mg to 30mg a week ago and did not notice any side effects apart from sleep problems. My doctor wants me to go on 40mg but i thought I would do it gradually, thinking of upping to 40mg in the next couple of days - eeeek!

Hey. Even though I've only been taking cit for 9 days now, for the first 3 days I experienced the same symptoms as you, and from there it wore off. I know we're both at very different stages but I imagine it'd be for the same reason? (Initial dose & increased dose) Hope that may be of some help to you. Feel better.
