Having a day off sick today...again. Last one was a month ago.

I'm feeling really guilty and worried again because I have taken a day off today.
I had a sinus infection last month and since then I haven't really felt 100% well. I work in.a primary school, so think this is going against me.
I now have a chest infection...been up all night with a rattling cough and rasping breathing.
Going to head to doctors again.today.
    Feel like I.am.always there.
Do you think.I will get dismissed at work? I am very worried.

    Hej,
I am writing this as I too am off sick from work - for the second time in about a month. I worry about the same thing as I worry that they will assume that I'm not actually sick and think I am 'faking it' and taking time off work for no reason, but that is just 'assuming,' one of my worst habits! Actually they will probably just be concerned for you and want you to feel better soon, they won't think of it in terms of your job performance or whether you are a good employee or not.
I don't know if you do this too but i judge other people very harshly and assume that they will be thinking these terrible things about me and actually I have no rational basis for these thoughts whatsoever....

    I am the same.
I honestly think I have had too many days. There are people at the school who have had more or the same but they have been there longer.
I''ve pretty much convinced myself that tomorrow I will get a verbal/written warning and I'm preparing myself.

No, you must wait until tomorrow to see how they respond before thinking of the worst circumstances in your head. I think people go through periods of a couple of years when they are ill more often, maybe due to stress, lifetstyle, whatever, and maybe you are just going through one of those. I am the same i think. They can't give you a written warning for being ill, you can't help it.

They will see tomorrow that you are still not 100% and that your illness is genuine. They have to treat you fairly and if other people have more sickness they cannot discipline you and not them. Get your union involved if it comes to that, though it probably won't.

I hope you feel better soon!

Every time I stayed home sick I worried about the same ... but really, being on the other side of it, when my coworkers are sick there is nothing I want more but for them to go home and not get me sick (selfish of me). I am sure they understand, everybody has been there.
