night-time teeth grinding?

Hi everyone, for the past 4 weeks I have had pain in shoulders, neck, jaw, ears and went to the dentist yesterday & they think I'm grinding & clenching teeth during night. I have been on Sert for 5 months now & this has only recently started. I don't know if its the meds or me. The pain lasts all day and really getting to me. has anyone else had this & does it go away or what helps?

Hiya Skoosh,
sorry to hear you've been having this pain.
has the dentist offered to make you a guard ? this can help to protect your teeth - though it doesn't actually stop you grinding.
have you ever tried any hypnotherapy recordings? They can help you relax- i have been listening to one before i go to sleep- i will check the title of it for you , ccat x

Thanks Cat, I've to go back to dentist in few weeks to see so will probably get a guard then. Think I'm clenching more. That would be great if you can get the name of that for me. Anything is worth a tryxx

She does have a website too where you can listen to a sound sample of her voice. I must say the first time I listened to it a felt self-conscious - but I now have it as my routine when I go to bed and find it relaxing and helpful.

Well its been nearly 8 weeks now and the night time jaw clenching,teeth grinding is subsiding consideribly these days.Is yours?
