    Beta Blockers for Flying ?

I have a long flight in about 10 weeks and not sure if I will be able to do it at the moment. My friend recommended Beta-Blockers for the flight to calm me down. can anyone give me some advice. can i just take them before the flight or do i need to start taking them now ?

Also can I take something like 'calms' at the same time.

    Any help gratefully recieved. x

Hi, I find that beta blockers work for me if on a long flight, you need to take one at least 1 hour before to get it into your system, please check first with a dr or pharmacist as to wether you can take herbal tabs along side it.

    Take care,

when I first took propranolol I had a reaction to it for a couple of doses so they can be kind of dangerous
I would see your GP before trying to get hold of any or take any before flying
It may be wise to have taken a test dose before using any medication to calm you

Thanks for all your replies. My friend told me she was on beat blockers some time ago and she could never recommend them. She siad it was like being turned into a zombie and had all kinds of problems, so now I am not sure. I do feel I need some medication to withstand a 10 hour flight, just not sure what would be the best..?

Hi, just because they weren't right for your friend doesn't mean they won't agree with you, I don't find them a big deal at all, remember everybody is different.

I'm sure you will make the right choice for you!!
