brewers yeast and kelp anyone?

My dad used to have panic attacks himself when he was about my age and he reccomended i try brewers yeast and kelp tablets, he said they were an absolute godsend to him.
i havent tried it yet cos im not sure.
has anyone else been reccommened to or has tried either or both of these? if so were they any good? and also does anyone know why theyre supposed to help?
