venlafaxine causing poor sense of smell or taste?

    Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and I have been suffering from depression and obsessive thoughts for years. Recently I started venlafaxine increasing the dose by 37,5 mg each week until I reached 150 mg last week.

I have the impression my sense of smell is slightly fading and when eating I can hardly get the flavor of food.

My doc denies it's venlafaxine and thinks it's the depression that causes these taste sensations.

Has anyone of you made the same experience?

    Thanks in advance

    Chris
