Is it OK to have the odd tipple now?

Hi all,

I'm sure this has probably been addressed before but I cannot find any recent posts. I was put on Sertraline 50mg back in June and settled on it fairly quickly.

I know in the data sheet it says to avoid alcohol, but I was just wanting to ask other people if they have the odd drink anyway whilst being on this? I'm really not a big drinker at all, but on the odd occasion when out for a meal, I would like to feel like I have the option of having a cocktail if I want to, but I am nervous about the effects of this with my medication.

What are other peoples experiences?

i do but in moderation ,im also on 50 mg

It basically makes you feel tipsy a lot quicker. It's as if the effect of the alcohol is doubled.

When I tried to drink in the first three or four weeks of going on Sertraline, I completely ****ing lost the plot. Sank into enormous hangovers of anxious depression.

However, after I'd settled - about 8 weeks - I could then drink entirely as normal. And didn't really notice the lightweight effect either.
